AFSCME GO: Three Ways to Take Action

AFSCME family: the billionaires and anti-union extremists in this White House are waging war on public service workers. Our jobs, our benefits, even our freedom to join a union are under attack.

Now, Congress wants to cut taxes for billionaires – even if it means gutting Medicaid, food assistance, childcare, and public services that millions of Americans rely on. This is a recipe for disaster, especially as working families brace for economic uncertainty and soaring grocery bills.

If Congress adopts these cuts, AFSCME members will face hiring freezes, layoffs, and tougher contract negotiations. But these billionaires couldn’t care less about the everyday heroes who keep our communities strong. They want to auction off our schools, hospitals, and correctional facilities to the highest bidder, and privatize public services.

We can’t let Congress line the pockets of the rich and force working families to pay the price. We have to fight back.

Our Get Organized campaign — or AFSCME GO — is about protecting our jobs, our communities, and our rights.

In the courts, we’re defending AFSCME members whenever they come under attack – whether they work in health care, education, the justice system, libraries and museums or anywhere else.

But the courts can’t stop Congress from gutting public services. We need you in this fight.

Here are three ways you can take action.

  1. Call Congress at +1 (202)-559-1165 and tell them: no gutting our pay and benefits to fund billionaire tax breaks!
  2. Talk to your coworkers about becoming AFSCME members. The more workers join our union, the more power we have to negotiate strong contracts and stop harmful budget cuts.
  3. Contribute to PEOPLE – and ask others to join you. PEOPLE is how we stop billionaires like Elon Musk from buying our elections.

AFSCME family, these are challenging times. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going. In times of crisis, we know what to do. We Get Organized!
